♦ Which documents are required to open an Individual Account
- PAN Card (Permanent Account Number)
- Proof of Address: Any one of the following may be submitted
– Passport Copy
– Voter Id Card Copy
– Driving License Copy
– Bank Pass Book Copy
– Electricity Bill or Telephone Bill in the customer’s name (not more than two months old)
– Leave and License agreement/agreement for sale.
– Copy of Ration Card
– Identity Card/Document with Address, issued By Central/State Government and its departments
Statutory /Regulatory Authorities, Public Sector Undertakings, Scheduled Commercial Banks,
Public Financial Institutions, Colleges Affiliated to Universities, Professional Bodies Such As ICAI,
ICWAI, ICSI, Bar Council etc to their members
- Bank Proof : Any one of the following may be submitted
– Cancelled Cheque (Name of the holder should be printed on the cheque)
– Copy of bank statement or copy of bank passbook (In case of name not printed on cheque leaf)
♦ Which documents required to open a Non Individual Account (Demat Account could not be opened for partnership firm)
(i) PARTNERSHIP FIRM:
- Duly filled copies of Trading/Trading & Demat /Commodity Form with photograph of authorized signatory affixed and signed across
- Duly filled KYC Registration Form.
- Copy of the Partnership Deed duly attested by a Notary Public.
- PAN Card copy of the firm
- Proof of Address, Proof of Identity, PAN Card of all Partners (Attested by each individual Partner)
- Authority Letter in favour of Managing Partner
- List of all Partner’s Photos with signatures on letterhead of the Firm
- Copy of Balance Sheet of the Partnership Firm for the last 2 financial years* (To be submitted every year).
- Copy of Certificate of Registration (For Registered Partnership Firms only).
- Address Proof of the Firm
- Proof of Bank Account (Specimen copy of Cancelled Check Leaf/Bank Statement/Bank Passbook/Letter From Bank).
(ii) H.U.F ACCOUNT:
- Duly filled Trading/Trading & Demat/Commodity form with photograph of Karta affixed and signed and stamped across
- PAN Card copy of the HUF
- Bank Passbook/Bank Statement of HUF indicating its existence
- PAN Card copy & address proof of Karta
- Declaration to be given by Karta & all major Co-Parceners
- HUF declaration for Demat Account as well as trading account
(iii) COMPANY:
- Duly filled Trading/Trading & Demat/Commodity form with photograph of Managing Partner affixed and signed across as well as duly stamped
- Copy of Balance Sheet for the last 2 financial years (to be submitted every year)
- Copy of the latest Share Holding Pattern including list of all those holding control, either directly or indirectly, in the company in terms of SEBI takeover regulations, duly certified by the Company Secretary
- Photographs/Proof of Identity/Proof of Address and DIN Number of Whole Time Directors
- Photographs/Proof of Identity/Proof of Address of individual promoters holding control – either directly or indirectly
- Copies of MoA and AoA
- Copy of Board Resolution for Investment in Securities/Commodity Market
- Authorized Signatory (ies) List with Specimen Signature
- PAN Card Copy of the company
- Address Proof of the company
- List of all Director’s Photographs Along with Specimen Signature
♦ Which documents are required to open an NRI Account ?
List of documents to be taken while registering NRI Clients :
- In case of Indian Passport – Valid Passport, Place of Birth as Indian
- Valid Visa – Work/Student/Employment/Resident Permit Etc.
- In Case of Foreign Passport :Valid Passport and any of The Following
- Place of Birth as India in Foreign Passport
- Copy of PIO / OCI Card as applicable in case of PIO/OCI
- PIS Permission Letter from the respective designated Bank
- PAN Card
- Overseas address driving license/ foreign passport /utility bills/ bank statement (not more than 2 months old)/ Notarized copy of Rent Agreement/ Leave & License Agreement/ Sale Deed.

♦ Can a minor open an Account?
a) Demat account can be opened in the name of a minor child by the natural guardian (parents) or court-appointed guardians only.
b) The guardian needs to fulfill all requirements for documents and KYC norms to open the account in the name of the minor.
c) A minor cannot be a joint holder in a demat account. The demat account can be held only in the name of the minor.
d) Date of birth of the minor is mandatory requirement, with proof. The account becomes inoperative when the minor turns major.
e) On attaining major status, a new demat account needs to be opened after completing all documentation. The erstwhile holdings can then be transferred to the new
f). If shares are held jointly with a minor in paper form, they need to first be transferred to the minor and then to the demat account in the minor’s name.
g). Through the Minor’s Trading account only delivery of shares can be bought & sold.
♦ What is KRA ?
KRA or KYC Registration Agency is an agency registered with SEBI under the Securities and Exchange Board of India {KYC (Know Your Client) Registration Agency} Regulations, 2011. The KRA maintains KYC records of an investor centrally, on behalf of capital market intermediaries registered with SEBI.
♦ Why is KRA required?
KRA enables an investor to invest through various intermediaries (Stock Broker / Mutual Fund AMC ), after undergoing the KYC process only once through an intermediary (Stock Broker / Mutual Fund AMC). This helps in avoiding duplication of KYC process and inconvenience to investors and eliminates the need to submit KYC documents each time an investor opens an account with another intermediary. Further, any subsequent changes in demographic details of an investor across various intermediaries can be updated by simply updating the record maintained with the KRA. KRA process results in uniformity of data of investors maintained across intermediaries, which would enhance compliance standards.
